floatcompress.js is used to do a lossy compression on coordinate data. Applications are low-bandwidth transfer and storage.
Pick test, compression level and speed, then study the result. The left geometry is using uncompressed coordinates and the right uses the same data but after a compression/uncompression roundtrip. Hint: low speeds shows compression artefacts best.
